The problem

The gap between said and done is where risk lives.

Most organisations are already delivering the safety information. The problem is that delivery does not always mean understanding.

Toolbox talks, pre-starts and inductions can quickly become familiar, repetitive and easy to tune out. People hear the words, but that does not always mean the message sticks.

01

Read out, not heard

The briefing gets read from the PowerPoint or page while the crew is already thinking about the job ahead. The information has been delivered. That does not mean anyone has taken it in.

02

Nodded at, not understood

Everyone nods. Ask the crew what the key control is five minutes later and you may get three different answers, or none at all.

03

Signed off, but nothing changes

The sheet gets signed. The briefing is complete. But if the same confusion, behaviours or near misses keep coming back, the message has not really done its job.

What we do

Critical information, understood and acted on.

Not more impressive. More effective.

Impact brings more than a decade of live communication experience together with lessons learned across 600+ toolbox talks, pre-starts and workforce briefings in high-risk operational environments.

We help supervisors, operational leaders and technical professionals get attention, hold it and communicate important information in a way people can actually follow.

The point is not to turn operational people into professional presenters. It is to help them communicate the information they already know more effectively.

Toolbox Talk & Pre-Start Training

Practical training for supervisors, superintendents and frontline leaders who regularly brief crews. We work on how they prepare, structure and deliver the message, particularly when the information is repetitive, attention is limited and people are ready to get on with the job.

For the people who deliver the messages

Leader & Technical Specialist Coaching

One-to-one and small-group coaching for operational leaders, engineers, safety professionals and technical specialists. They already know their subject. We help them explain it clearly, hold attention and make complex information easier for other people to understand.

For leaders and technical experts

Briefing & Induction Design

We review toolbox talks, pre-starts, inductions and workforce briefings to see where the message may be getting lost. Then we help reshape the content and delivery so the important information is easier to follow, remember and act on.

For safety, HSE and L&D teams

How we work

Practical. Human. Built for the frontline.

Our approach has been shaped by more than a decade of live communication and experience across 600+ toolbox talks, pre-starts and workforce briefings. We know how to get attention, hold it and make important information easier to follow without trying to turn operational people into polished presenters.

    Built from the work

What we teach has been shaped in real briefings with real crews. We have seen what holds attention, what loses it and what helps important information actually stick.

  2. 02

    Useful on the next shift

People leave with things they can actually use when they next stand in front of a crew. Simple changes to how they prepare, structure and deliver the message.

  3. 03

    Shaped around your operation

We start by understanding your people, your environment and the messages they deliver. This isn't a generic communication course. It is shaped to feel relevant to the job they actually do, for supervisors, engineers, technical specialists and leadership alike.

  4. 04

    Effective, not performative

This is not about teaching people to sound impressive. It is about helping them communicate in a way that feels natural, holds attention and gets the important information through.

Case study · WestConnex

Making critical safety briefings more effective across WestConnex

The challenge was not a lack of safety information. It was getting important, often repetitive messages through to crews working in a busy operational environment. Over three years, Jeremiah worked across 600+ toolbox talks, pre-starts and workforce briefings, helping keep the information clear, engaging and easier for people to take in. That experience also led to work helping other operational teams strengthen the way they delivered their own briefings.

The case study looks at the challenge, what we did and what we learned from doing it at scale.

Why Impact

Your people know the technical content. We help it land.

Impact Communication Solutions was founded by Jeremiah Hartmann Tesoriero, a professional live communicator whose work moved into high-risk operational environments in 2021 when Transurban's communications team brought him into the WestConnex program.

Over the next three years, Jeremiah worked across more than 600 toolbox talks, pre-starts, and workforce briefings in front of over 250 attendees at a time. These were real operational environments where critical information was often being repeated, crews were already in the early stages of fatigue, attention was competing with the job ahead, and the message still had to land.

Jeremiah wasn't there to replace the technical experts. Supervisors, HSE teams and operational leaders already knew their work. His role was to strengthen the communication around it, helping keep people engaged and making critical information easier to hear, understand and remember.

That work eventually led to Jeremiah being asked to help other operational teams strengthen the way they delivered their own briefings. Impact now takes those lessons and turns them into practical training and coaching for supervisors, leaders and technical professionals working in high-risk environments.
